Accepting EBT Payments is Simple!
Do your part for your community and open your business to millions of new customers who take part in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)!
What is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT)?
SNAP provides benefits to needy families to supplement their food budgets so they can purchase healthy food. Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that enables a person to transfer those benefits from a Government account to a retailer’s store.
Recipients are issued an “EBT Card” similar to a debit card to buy eligible goods from grocery stores, farm markets, or other retailers. Click here to see if your business is eligible for EBT Program.
What do I need to do to accept EBT Payments?
To become an authorized SNAP Store, you must register and apply for a Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) number. You can apply online. We will walk you through the entire application process, and once the FNS number is assigned, the EBT entitlement will be added to your merchant account. True Merchant will update or upgrade your equipment so you can start accepting EBT payments.
Why should you accept EBT payments?
It’s a win-win for the community and your business! You are lending a helping hand to those who need it the most while broadening your customer base.
